Mission

The Hagar House exists to provide a Faith-based long-term home for women and their children in crisis. To offer them a significant amount of TIME, in a place of RESPITE, surrounded by intentional SUPPORT to impact lasting change.

Vision

This home will come alongside families to grow and equip them, building upon their strengths, and helping them overcome barriers to success. Our holistic approach will include:

Program Framework

Acceptance in the home is based upon a thorough Application and Interview process. We want to ensure that we are the best fit for each mother and her children. We will be a grace-filled home dedicated to strengthening families by offering an intentional time of growth. We will want to know that each mother is highly motivated to use her time at The Hagar House wisely and with a clear purpose.

Once we establish a mutual agreement of residency we will welcome the family into The Hagar House home. There our program will consist of 3 phases:

PHASE 1
Assess individual needs and establish clear goals with a case advocate.

PHASE 2
Actively working toward measurable goals, with regular meetings with case advocate.

PHASE 3
Complete goals and plan for moving into their own home. Celebrate their journey!

Length of Stay

Approximately 6 to 18 months, because lasting change takes time. We will assess individual needs and set them up to truly grow into healthy and self-sufficient families long-term.

Program Content

Holistically grow and equip the family through a variety of resources.

  • Values - We offer grace based support as we encourage them in the Truth as defined by God.  We connect them to Gospel based churches and offer Bible studies to nurture and heal them from the inside out.

  • Finances - We work through a debt assessment program, as well as healthy money management. We teach skill enhancement courses for resume building, budgeting, interviews, and financial goals.

  • Parenting - We focus on raising up strong mothers, instilling a healthy example for their children to follow. We offer parenting classes on a variety of essential topics; some examples being physical heath, education, technology use, discipline, etc.

  • Health & Wellbeing - We present a broad spectrum of resources to assist in physical, emotional, and mental health. This includes onsite classes like nutrition and exercise, healthy personal boundaries in relationships, acceptance, forgiveness, etc. We also arrange for offsite support such as licensed counseling and establishing medical care.

Statement of Faith

Doctrine

GOD - We believe in ONE God who exists eternally and equally in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This God is the Creator of all things, infinite in love, and sovereign in power.

JESUS - We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He came to earth to reveal the Truth of God to the world. He lived a sinless life, was crucified on a cross, rose from the dead, thus paying the penalty of sin for any who would trust in Him.

HOLY SPIRIT - We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, that He is actively working in the lives of God’s people. He counsels, empowers, and transforms lives to walk in Christ-like obedience and victory.

THE BIBLE - We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and proper conduct of mankind. It is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

HUMANITY - We believe that all people are made in the likeness of God and that all life is sacred from conception. People are incapable of perfection and therefore all have sinned by acting outside of God’s design. We are powerless to earn our own salvation.

SALVATION - Jesus, in His perfection, satisfied the just demands of a Holy God and as our substitute, shed His blood on the cross for our sins. Salvation then is a free gift to all who acknowledge their sin, turn in repentance, and accept Jesus’s sacrifice in their place.

CHRISTIAN LIVING - We believe that at the moment of salvation we become a new creation, called to live differently. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially. We live out our faith in love for one another, compassion toward the poor, and justice for the oppressed. In this we will experience deep fulfilling purpose in our lives and demonstrate to the world a genuine relationship with God.

CHRIST’S RETURN - We believe that Jesus Christ will return, in visible bodily form, to judge all mankind. For the saved, to eternal life, and for the lost, to eternal punishment.

Ministry

WE BELIEVE:

  • Lasting change and freedom from personal wounds and patterns come only through the power of The Holy Spirit.

  • Healed mothers can raise healthy children, and that generations will be impacted by ministering to mothers and imparting hope.

  • Every mother deserves a chance to be taught how to be a successful parent, regardless of the circumstances that brought her to motherhood.

  • Every child, born or unborn, is a precious life created by God with a destiny and purpose.

  • We believe gender is determined by God at birth. God created man and woman as unique biological persons. God’s design for sexuality is to be expressed within the context of a marriage between one biological man and one biological woman. We desire to show love and compassion to those who struggle with their identity in these areas.

  • In spiritual unity with all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • In the specific calling of The Hagar House’s mission. We realize we may not be able to meet the needs of every woman’s circumstances. In cases where we are not the best fit, it is our desire to assist in any way we can to find other arrangements.

  • In lovingly serving every mother and child regardless of their personal beliefs, life experiences, and difficult circumstances.

  • It is a high calling and honor to be entrusted with the hearts and lives of these families and we will continually seek God’s wisdom to lovingly lead and serve them.

OPERATIONS:

  • We do not offer onsite licensed counseling or medical services.

  • We are not equipped to manage acute substance abuse needs.

  • We are mandatory reporters of child abuse or neglect.
